From Our Table to Your Door
In 2009, I sent my son to Seoul to study filmmaking. Over those years I flew back and forth to Korea often to visit him, and that's where I fell in love with real, honest Kimbap. When I came back to Malaysia, I looked everywhere — and just couldn't find that same taste again.
In 2020, once the worst of the pandemic had passed, I closed the clothing business I'd run for 20 years. Not quite sure what came next, my son and I got talking — and we kept coming back to that Kimbap we missed. We dug in, tested, adjusted, and Obaby Korean Kimbap was born.
We taught ourselves how it's rolled on the streets of Seoul, then adjusted it, roll by roll, to suit our own tastes here. At the end of the day, it's because we'd eaten truly good Kimbap in Korea and couldn't find anything close to it back home — so freshness and hygiene were never negotiable for us, not from day one.
Six years in now, and looking back, every customer we've served is what we're proudest of. We promise to keep getting better.
